We were on our 1 year anniversary trip in
Australia and New Zealand. The
trip was coming to an end, as we were
traveling through the southern island of New
Zealand. For 3
consecutive nights, Laura had a recurring dream that
she was pregnant.
(The first time she had ever dreamt this).
After the third night, we decided to walk to
the local market in Te Anu and pick up an E.P.T test.
Laura had heard
that the tests are most accurate in the
mornings to detect conception early, so we decide to wait until
the next
morning to take the test.
It turned out to be a much more trying test of our patience
than initially anticipated.
At 5:00 a.m., despite our attempts to get a
good night sleep because of the long drive ahead of us that day to
the
Misty Fiordlands, Laura snuck out of bed and
grabbed the test. Mike
heard her rustling with the plastic wrapper
and woke to discover Laura could wait no
longer. The
anticipation was too much.
Laura completed the test, and we walked away
from the bathroom for the longest 2 ˝ minutes we have had to
endure.
We were both very excited to become pregnant,
but neither of us thought it could happen this soon.
When we walked
back into the hotel bathroom, we leaned over
the counter to see if that faint second pink line was real, or
just a figment
of our imaginations.
Tears weld up in Laura’s eyes as Mike held her in his
arms and confirmed ‘we are pregnant’.
We spent that day on a cruise through the Misty Fiords
of Southern New Zealand, one of the most beautiful and
magical
places in the world, with a grin from cheek to cheek.
